BENEFITS
Why ManageKind?
We want to make the workplace a people place.
A place where people can be themselves
are more engaged, less stressed, and able to thrive. We passionately believe that managers are the key to making this happen.
Our unique 'People First' approach to management and training means doing everything possible to get the best out of your people and help them succeed.
When you truly put your people first. Once you create a company culture that cares for the people who work there, values what they do, and is thankful for their time and effort. That's when the magic starts to happen, the problems diminish and people succeed.
Better Employee Wellbeing
First and foremost we sincerely believe every manager has a duty of care to those they manage. And that no one should ever dread coming to work and should never leave work feeling worse than when they arrived
Improved Work/Life Balance
We enjoy our work but life is more important. We believe in getting the job done and getting back to life. We teach managers how to prioritise, delegate, and manage their workload. Achieve their goals as quickly and as simply as possible. And how to ask for help when they need it not when its too late.
Positive and Inclusive Culture
We believe in 'Making the Workplace a People Place', which means treating everyone with the same kindness, fairness, and respect you would want in return, empowering others to do the same. Almost every lesson in our training includes aspects of creating such a place.
Higher Employee Engagement
Employee Engagement isn't a mystery, it's a by-product of people having a good experience at work. When people enjoy where they work, and what they do, and are successful and feel valued. They feel like they belong to something special that's when true engagement happens.
Higher Productivity and More Success
Ultimately everything we teach from putting people first to creating the right environment is all designed to drive performance and success. Because ultimately you can't succeed unless your people do.
Internal Talent Development
For us, developing people is the best part of management. Being an influence and helping people grow is a powerful thing. We teach managers that developing people is vital to the success and longevity of the team. and is also the easiest way for them to be considered for moving on up.
Higher Staff Retention
People leave jobs for all kinds of reasons but ultimately It Is because they are unhappy, unfulfilled, or feel that they will be happier elsewhere. The key to retaining staff is to give them an experience they won't find anywhere else and your managers are key to making this happen,
Decreased Sickness and Absence
Sadly most people feign sickness or are absent because they don't want to come to work! This starts to change when people enjoy what they do, where they work, and who they work with. and especially if they feel part of something bigger.
ABOUT
Our Story
Imagine a world where workplaces thrive on trust, kindness, and the inherent goodness of people. This is the vision behind ManageKind, conceived during the first COVID-19 lockdown in 2020.
During the global upheaval, John read a book called 'Humankind' by Rutger Bregman. The book challenged the widespread belief that people are mostly selfish and all out for themselves. It included a real-life lord of the Flies where a group of young people were marooned on an Island and worked together rather than turning on each other. The book's core message was that people are fundamentally good and will normally try and do the right thing. This resonated deeply with John, especially the chapters on the workplace. It had stories of leaders and organizations that broke away from traditional, rigid structures. These trailblazers relied on trust, kindness, and the intrinsic good in people to run their companies and were highly successful
This was a philosophy that John and James had both managed others by, without even realising it. The book was an instant validation of their core beliefs
When James read the book, he was equally inspired. That afternoon, they had their first Zoom meeting, marking the inception of ManageKind. They both felt an undeniable purpose—a mission to share something unique. But they faced two critical questions: Could they teach what they knew? And more importantly, would people want it?
John and James first met in May 2003. They were tasked with leading a new fundraising company, a partnership that developed into a lasting friendship and a successful collaboration. Over the next two decades, they recruited, trained, and managed hundreds of individuals across various operations.
They shared similar working-class backgrounds and had worked their way into management roles, often feeling like outsiders in their industry. Perhaps this unique perspective is what made their partnership so effective. They derived immense satisfaction from supporting and developing the people they managed. Training, mentoring, and assisting them were not just responsibilities but, sources of genuine fulfillment. They firmly believed that managers have a duty of care towards their teams and that nurturing these relationships would yield exceptional results. Their 'people-first' approach was in practice long before they coined the term.
The insights from 'Humankind' crystallized their belief that their management style—though unconventional—was the right path. It validated their conviction that the negative experiences and horror stories they had encountered and heard about over the years shouldn't be accepted as the norm. They realized that they had the potential to instigate change and be the difference they wished to see in the world.
It hasn't been an easy journey, The road has been long and challenging, both personally and professionally. But today, they stand ready to share their unique perspective on people management.
They believe that by transforming how managers view their roles and the profound influence they wield, they can change the landscape of management for the better.
